The Olympic Winter Games excitement is crazy in our house! It’s a good thing the kids have had 2 hour delays every morning cause they have been staying up watching all of the excitement play out on TV.  To celebrate the Olympic Games I searched the web for some great Olympic themed crafts for you to do with your kids.  Enjoy!

Creative Memories ~ More Than Just A Paper Company

October 21, 2009 by CraftyMama

Creative Memories LogoI have been scrapbooking in one way or another since I was in high school.  I have all the cards and momentos from my husband while we were dating glued in a big old fashioned yellow paper scrapbook.  Keeping up with all the photos and scrapbooking for 4 kids is extremely hard to do.  I have to say I honestly have not scrapbooked since I went away for a weekend event almost 2 years ago!

When I started blogging I found out some things about digital scrapbooking and Photo Shop, but I have only tried to do a few pages and have not been overly excited about how they turned out.  I was so excited when I found out Creative Memories was one of the sponsors for the Type A Mom conference last month, I was hoping maybe we would get some cute paper or a nice pen (althought I am really bad at journaling).  Much to my surprise Creative Memories exceeded my expectations by giving each attendee a copy of their digital scrapbooking software Story Book Creator 3.0 and a really cute laptop sleeve.

How to Make Container to Collect Your Box Tops

August 25, 2009 by CraftyMama

With school just around the corner, or already started for some areas, the school will surely be asking you to save your Box Tops for Education. It is a great way for schools to make some extra money and all you have to do is cut the Box Tops from the packaging of many brands your probably buy each week! To find out more about Box Tops for Education click here. If you sign up for their mailing list you will also receive coupons and recipes featuring your favorite Box Top brands.

We are constantly cutting out Box Tops and they end up all over the house.  I needed to figure out a better way to collect them so my sister in law and I came up with this great container idea using a recycled formula can.  Its very easy to make, uses very little supplies, and will keep your Box Tops all together in one place.  Enjoy!

As you have seen we recently redesigned my daughters room thanks to Walmart. Learn 4 tie dying techniques with me and my daughter.

Sorry You Tube cut me off, I guess I talk too much lol.

Let your shirts dry overnight, then cut the rubber bands off. Lay the shirts flat for a few more hours because they will still be damp in the creases.

Plastic Bottle Bird Feeder

December 14, 2008 by CraftyMama

Here in PA when the weather gets cold, the birds get hungry! We always make sure we feed our backyard friends when the snow falls. This year we made our own bird feeders. By doing this we saved money by not buying any new expensive bird feeders, we recycled because we used plastic bottles, and we had fun! Here is a bird trying out the one we hung on our porch.

They are very easy to make. This is what you need:

16 – 24 oz plastic water or soda bottle with lid
Wooden BBQ skewer
Scissors
Bird seed
Permanent markers
String

~About 1/2 way down one side of the bottle cut an opening about the size of a bar of soap. You can cut the flap of or leave it attached on the top and fold it up to make an “awning”

~Cut the sharp edge off of each end of the skewer and cut it in half.

~Under the opening poke a small hole and place one half of the skewer in the hole push it through and cut another hole in the other side so the skewer goes through a little bit.

~Use permanent markers to decorate your bird feeder

~Make a hanger by tying the string around the bottle just under the lid.

~Fill bottom with seed and hang!

I used this as a craft with my Tiger Cub scouts and they really enjoyed it .

You can make a larger version of this by using a 2 liter bottle or 64 oz juice bottle and a dowel rod.

Enjoy!
