e.l.f Make Up at Home Party

December 28, 2009 by CraftyMama
Filed under Life in the Crafty Shack

A few weeks ago my daughter and I hosted an e.l.f. Make up at Home party for her friends and thier mothers.  I wanted to introduce her friend mother’s to the product because I think it is great for tweens.  It is very high quality makeup at affordable prices so the girls can have many different choices and colors without costing mom a ton a money!  Without a doubt the favorite product was the sparkle liquid eyeliner and the mineral eyeshadow.

Change Your Body in 30 Days Challenge

I have been wearing my Earth Footwear Exer-walks for about 3 weeks now and I am back to tell you what I think.

I LOVE THEM! Not because I got them for free, not because they are asking me to write this post, not because it’s what Earth Footwear wants me to say.  I love them because I can really feel the difference in my body because of the shoes.   The first few times I wore them I felt muscles I never even knew I had.  After the initial shock to my calf muscles and my upper butt muscles, I actually started feeling good.  I found that I more stamina when walking a lot in a day, and my hips didn’t “giggle” as much as usual.

I didn’t weigh myself or do any measurements before I started, I wish I would have to compare, but I do believe there have been changes in my body.  Someone recently said to me “wow, I never noticed what nice legs you have”  lol must be the shoes!   I am seriously planning to make a commitment to my body in the new year, I think I am finally ready, I have put it off for too long (maybe because 40 is coming WAY too fast?).  I plan on making my Earth Footwear a major part of my commitment.  I’m going to wear them while using my WiiFit and I am going to start walking more while wearing them.  We will see what happens, I really believe they will help me tremendously.

I recommend putting Earth Footwear on your list to Santa, there are so many different styles to choose from and if you go to Planet Shoes by December 31st and use code “chrismom”  you will receive 15% off your order.

Disclosure ~ I was given my Exer Walk shoes as a prize from an online contest.

Join Me on Black Friday with #BFDeals!

I go shopping every year on Black Friday, its been a tradition for me for about 14 years now and I love it.  The excitement of the deals, the rush of all the people, the hot chocolate at 3 am, you just can’t beat it.  I normally hate to wait in lines but for some reason on Black Friday it really doesn’t matter, all that matters is having fun, spending money and shopping till we drop!

I am so excited to be a part of a new website created by Collective Bias called mybfdeals.com.  Here is the press release about the project:

November 25, 2009 – Bentonville, AR – Collective Bias, an interactive marketing firm that connects brands with shoppers at the store shelf by facilitating conversation and building relationships, has partnered with Whrrl, a location based mobile application that lets people capture and share the stories of their lives one moment at a time, to create a unique platform that helps shoppers find the best deals on Black Friday.

Twenty bloggers, led by well-known mom bloggers Melissa Garcia, the “money-saving” Consumer Queen, and Courtney Velasquez of Giftfully Simple, will hit stores on Black Friday and upload photos and tips through Whrrl to My Black Friday Deals.

Bloggers Unite ~ Fight For Preemies

543,000 babies in the US each year are born premature

that’s 12.8% of the total babies born

25% of these births are due to early induction or c section due to pregnancy complications or health problems in the mother or fetus.  In these cases early delivery is probably the safest thing for mother and child

These are just a few statistics from the March of Dimes, I’m not a big number person but let me give you a few numbers of my own.

Annie was born 43 days early ~Her early birth was necessary to save her mother’s life as well as her own.

She lived 73 days

She’s been gone 78 days

That’s 5 days longer than she lived

That not right.  We need to fight, we need save babies like Annie.

Annie

My heart breaks every day for Annie and for her mother (my cousin) her father, her 2 older brothers, her Mema (my aunt) and everyone else in my family who welcomed Annie into this world with hearts full of love, hope, and dreams of the future.

I have been forever changed by Annie, not a day goes by that I don’t think of her and hold my kids a little tighter, a little closer.

I blog today for you Annie because I love you and because we all need to fight to stop unnecessary premature birth.  To find out how you can help visit the March of Dimes website and join the fight. Do it today. Every person, every day can make a difference.

Taylor Swift in Concert in Pittsburgh

October 26, 2009 by CraftyMama

A few weeks ago my 12 year old daughter and I went to see Taylor Swift in concert in Pittsburgh. I bought the tickets months ago when they went on sale and was fortunate enough to get them before they sold out!

The concert was fantastic, it was more that just a concert, it was a theatrical show and every minute made you want more and more.  The arena was sold out, packed, and loved Taylor.  At one point as she made her way back to the main stage through the crowd on the floor the audience went crazy and it turned into a 6 minute (my daughter timed it lol) standing ovation in the middle of the concert.  Taylor was moved to tears by the outpouring from the crowd and it gave me goosebumps to think how amazing the whole experience must be for someone her age.  We all dreamed of being a rock star at one point or another as little girls and she has done it and done it very well.

Type A Mom Conference Recap

October 3, 2009 by CraftyMama
Filed under Life in the Crafty Shack

As many of you know I just returned home from the Type A Mom Conference in Asheville, NC.  I want to start by giving Kelby Carr a huge round of applause for her fantastic job putting this conference together.  It was the best conference I have been to so far as well as the most affordable.  I got everything out of it I had hoped for, hugs from my friends, knowledge from awesome bloggers, and contacts with great PR  and company reps.

There is so much to say I don’t even know where to start! I am going to try to just touch on some of the highlights of my trip.
