I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t take care of myself like I should. I know I should eat better (and less) and cut back on my Pepsi but I don’t. When I found out one of the companies that I was going to meet at Blog World Expo was Genesis Today I was very excited about the prospect of filling my body with good stuff! That prospect was squashed when I tried the juice and didn’t like it. Now what?
Genesis Today is a leader in the industry of superfoods that was started by Dr. Lindsey Duncan in 1988. Here is an excerpt from the website
Back in 1988, a young Naturopathic Doctor and Certified Nutritionist named Lindsey Duncan quietly began practicing his life’s work: Teaching People How to Heal Themselves. He discovered that if his clients followed his health protocols, they would improve. Stories of his ability as a healer traveled the country. His clinic became one of the most renowned in the world and he has since accrued over 40,000 clinical hours of research, one person at a time.
In the 1990’s, Dr. Lindsey embarked on a quest for a potent, bitter fruit from the South Pacific Islands: Noni. Story after story of a “miracle fruit” had reached his clinic and he wanted to learn more. After spending time studying with the shamans, he returned with a few bottles of a 100% pure, dark, robust juice, made according to local tradition. Its powerful flavor overpowered some, but most understood that this was an “old medicine.” The attributes of the humble Noni fruit awakened in him the search to find other hidden gems among the folktales of the ancient healers from all corners of Mother Earth.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Lindsey in Las Vegas, he told the story of how he became interested in healing and living naturally, his story was very moving and inspiring (I hope to share the video with you soon, I am still waiting on the final copy). Why was it so inspiring to me? Because I tried the juices and I don’t like them, not one bit. After listening to Dr.Lindsey talk about the benefits of the juices and how it is “never to late to start a new beginning” I found myself desperate to get healthy for myself and for my family. Later that night at a dinner party I approached Dr. Lindsey about how he inspired me and my dilemma with the taste. I confessed that as he was talking earlier that day and I was craving the goodness of the juices, I was thinking how it would taste mixed with my Pepsi! He chuckled and offered to help me with recipes for smoothies and other foods that can contain the juices but ease the taste! Why didn’t I think of that? I guess that’s why he’s the doctor lol. I have not tried any yet but I am very excited, I will keep you posted on the taste.
One of the reasons Genesis Today was at Blog World was to spread the word about their new line of juices developed especially for Walmart. Here are the available flavors (click on the photo to read more about the individual benefits of each juice)
Each flavor is available in a 10 oz size for around $1.60 and a 64 oz size for around $7.00, from what I understand, these prices are considerably less than other leading brands which can run for around $25 for a 64 oz bottle.
How would you use $10,000?
The second reason Genesis Today was at Blog World Expo was to launch their Genesis of a Great Idea contest. The world of social media is a new adventure for Genesis Today and they are looking for your help! They are looking for the next great strategy to help them engage consumers in social media and online. The winner of the contest will win a $10,000 stipend and be a part of the execution of their plan! Have I peaked your interest? Click here to read more about the contest and submit your idea. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by, the contest deadline is November 15, 2009.
I will keep you posted on the recipes I try and how they taste. I might even be doing something fun here involving recipes, stay tuned!
