The Hebrew National Better-Than-a-Picnic Picnic came to Pittsburgh yesterday and despite the rain, it was a huge success! It was so rewarding to see our ideas and work come to such an awesome conclusion.
The idea behind the Better-Than-a-Picnic Picnic’s is to bring the community together for a fun day as well as to provide services for the community.
There were hot dogs of course!
We made bags for the preteen/teen patients of the Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh. When making donations to organizations, often people do not think of the older children in facilities, therefore they do not always benefit from donations. We were very excited to help fill this need that the Children’s Institute had. I look forward to doing many more wonderful things for the Children’s Institute in the future. We will be visiting the facility in the weeks to come and I will share with you more then about all the wonderful services they provide.
We collected supplies for The Animal Rescue League’s Wildlife Center
The kids decorated bags for The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to use to distribute food.
Some people even braved the rain and helped clean up the trash and the weeds in the park!
Here is a great video Bryan Douglas put together for us.
There are a few more stops on the schedule this summer, maybe one is near you!
