When I signed up for the Hillshire Farm Sandwich Showdown at Blogher I never imagined I would make it to the Semi-Final round but I did! It’s round 3 and I’m up against Renae @madamedeals Liz @lizzydear and Lisa @crazyadventures, some really tough competition! Only 2 of us will make it to the final round. My nerves are shot lol.
My recipe for round 3 was inspired by a local Pittsburgh restaurant called Pirmanti Brothers. At Pirmanti’s the put the side dishes (cole slaw and french fries) on the sandwich instead of beside it. Since our sandwiches had to be cold, I improvised.
Pirmanti Inspired Steak and Cheese
Ingredients
- Italian Bread
- Hillshire Farm Deli Select Roast Beef
- Provolone Cheese
- Potato Chips
- Cole Slaw
Layer the roast beef and cheese on a slice of bread, top with crushed potato chips and cole slaw.
As we wait to find out the results of the judging, Padma comes over to me and asks me why I put cole slaw on my sandwich, so I told her my Pirmanti story and she relplies with “well the cole slaw got you into the final round!” OMG!
