While I was in New York for the Blogher 10 conference, I was invited on a NYC bus tour by Kodak. Prior to arriving in NYC Kodak set each of us an EasyShare M580 camera to bring with us on the tour.
The coolest thing about this camera is you can “share” your photos instantly when you download them. You can share photos on Facebook, Flickr, Kodak Photo Gallery or through email. Before you download your photos from the camera you tell it where you want to share each one and when you plug it into your computer and they automatically go to the sites you told it to share them too! No more having to visit multiple sites and upload your photos everywhere. This is especially nice if you have friends and family who are always saying they never see photos of your kids lol. Now they go right to Facebook and I don’t even have to think about it.
Overall I was pleased with the camera, it is great for a point and shoot, I’d never give up my Nikon, but the EasyShare is great to throw in my purse and have with me all of the time. It took really great photos and the zoom is pretty good as well. The only thing that I was disappointed about was the battery life. Most of the cameras on the tour were dead within about 2 hours. I honestly haven’t used it much since I have been home so I am not sure how long it would last for quick everyday use. **UPDATED** After I posted this, Jenny aka @KodakCB shared with me that the problem with the batteries was the heat, and let me tell you it was HOT that day. Here is a link she shared with me about batteries and heat http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/01/technology/personaltech/01basics.html?_r=3. Thanks Jenny, that makes me feel much better about it
I put together a slideshow using Muvee to share with you some of my photos from the tour. I would also like to take a second here to thank Muvee for sponsoring part of my trip to Blogher! Without them I wouldn’t have been able to go. If you haven’t heard of Muvee, you should really check it out, its great software for slideshows. If you will be at Type A Mom in a few weeks, I have some more free copies of it, if you are interested let me know, I’d be happy to give one to you.
