Family movie night is back! I remember a time (when I was younger) and I would sit down on a Friday or Saturday night with my mom and dad and watch a great family movie during prime time on network television. Since I have had kids, it seems like there have not been many opportunities like this for me and my children. Thanks to P&G and Walmart the family movie night drought is over!
P&G and Walmart decided to work together in creating “Secrets of the Mountain” after hearing from families who wanted more quality options to be offered on television. The companies conducted research study with the Association of National Advertisers Alliance for Family Entertainment that revealed that parents across America are seeking more family oriented entertainment to enjoy together.
I was recently sent a sneak peak of the new made for TV movie “Secrets of the Mountain” which premiers tomorrow, Friday April 16th at 8/7c on NBC. The kids and I watched the trailer and a few behind the scenes clips and they cannot wait to make popcorn and sit down together tomorrow night and see how the movie plays out. Here is a bit more about the movie from the press kit I was sent.
“Secrets of the Mountain” focuses on Dana James (played by Paige Turco), a public defender and single mother, who takes her family to visit a mountain cabin they inherited from their eccentric Uncle Henry (played by Barry Bostwick), only to find themselves embarking on the adventure of a lifetime. You get to follow Dana and her family through a journey that will change each of them and their relationships forever. An ancient secret and a treacherous quest will test the family like never before. It’s an edge of the seat thriller that reminds us that when times are tough, families don’t run away form problems-they run back to each other.
P&G and Walmart are already working on a second movie titled “The Jensen Project” which is scheduled to air on NBC on July 16th. I can’t wait to see what that one is all about!
A special bonus pack of the Soundtrack and DVD of “Secrets of the Mountain” will be available exclusively at Walmart beginning Saturday April 17th. The soundtrack is produced by Randy Jackson and includes songs from Alisan &Ilsey, Brooke White, Jordin Sparks and many other popular artists. Guess what? I’m an e-mail subscriber! I’m so happy to see that some family television is finally being produced. When I was a kid we use to watch together, too. By the time my boys were teens that wasn’t happening cause of the raunchy shows everywhere
Now we have grandchildren and we love gathering in the game room in the evening to watch a movie together. During the day most of our family time is outside swimming in the lake, hiking, or playing in the snow!

What we do to enjoy family moments is to either watch a great movie together, school sporting events or church activities. Whatever it is, we always enjoy it as a family.
Email subscriber. We usually try to have a family night every week with rotating activities like: movie night, game night, picnic.
I’d love to see this movie I planned to record it but I think I forgot!
