Your Shape Challenge ~ Week 2

Well I just finished up my second week with Jenny and Your Shape and what a trip it has been! It’s getting easier but I’m still amazed at how out of shape I actually am.
After a frustrating week 1 where I didn’t loose any weight I’m happy to announce that I have lost 11 pounds this week! It feels really great to say that. I’m not exactly sure what made the difference but I changed several things this week.
1. Upped my water intake ~ I’m still nowhere near the suggested amount of water a day, I have to keep working on this, but I did drink more than I used to which was only about 1 or 2 glasses a day. I used to reach for a Pepsi, now I reach for water.
2. I changed my diet. This was big for me, I never ate breakfast, I usually snack all day a little at a time, eat what the kids don’t eat after I make lunch and then eat dinner with my family. Drastic changes here.
- Breakfast ~ I have been eating a bowl of Special K with 2% milk every morning
- Lunch ~ I stocked up on Progresso soup when it was on sale and I eat soup and salad for lunch. Did you know that most Progresso soups are only 1 or 2 points on Weight Watchers? When I don’t eat soup and salad I grab a Healthy Choice Cafe Steamer, they are really good and a bit bigger portion than the regular frozen meals. If I’m still hungry after that I have a salad as well.
- Dinner ~ I eat what I prepare for the family, the only change here is that I try to control my portions.
- Snacks ~ I have been snacking on Clementines, Weight Watchers ice cream snacks, sugar free Jello and pudding, and pretzels. I also make 2 smoothies each day in between meals. One smoothies is made with Genesis Today Acai Berry juice, and mixed berries and the other with Genesis Today Goji Berry juice, strawberries and bananas. The benefits of these juices are a whole blog post all on their own, I am heading to the Genesis Today Blogger Immersion in Austin this week so I will be sharing more about them soon.
3. The last change this week was I tried not to be as lazy. I parked further away from stores and took stairs when I could.
As far as the Your Shape game goes, like I said, its getting easier, but Jenny is still kicking my butt! One of the things I really like about the game is that there are a variety of exercises and you only do each one for 30 seconds to a minute then you switch to another. The variety makes the time go faster and you don’t get bored or frustrated if there is a particular exercise that you have trouble with. I have only been doing 15 minutes a day, I don’t know if I am ready to do 30 at once, but I think I’m gonna try to do 15 minutes twice a day this coming week.
We have our own website now for our challenge. Make sure you check it out and follow the progress of all of the challengers! You can see it here: Your Shape Challenge
Each week our fearless leader Stacie gives us several questions to answer here’s this weeks questions.
Week 2 Questions
Tell us about Your Shape. Describe it to your readers. What would you say?
- Your Shape is a fitness game for the Wii platform that uses webcam technology to examine your movement and formation of various exercises. The game allows you to choose the area of your body you would like to work on and customizes the workout for you. The shortest workout you can choose is 15 minutes and like I mentioned above I really like the variety of exercises, it makes the time seem to go faster. The game also gives you feedback on how many calories you burned and the results of your workout.
How are you doing? How are you feeling?
- Doing well, having a really hard time with the floor exercises in the program but other than that its getting easier. I can definitely feel a difference in my stamina, its getting easier each day to finish the workout.
Successes. Failures (these are key to learn from)
- not loosing weight the first week really hit me hard, made me even more determined to finish the workouts.
Any change(s) in goals?
- So far, no.
Are you changing your eating habits?
- Yes, big changes here as described earlier in my post.
